Alternative Teaching Ideas
1. Use of videosVideos can be a great teaching resource. Several videos are posted throughout this section, but this video would be a good introduction to the overall concept of homeostasis.

2. Using human feedback loops
This works especially well for the thermoregulation feedback loops. Get students to pair up so that each pair represents a different sensor, integrator, effector, and result. Give student a condition, such as the weather is very hot outside, and ask them to come up with the proper cycle of how the body responses to this increase in environmental temperature.
3. drawing relationships
Getting students to draw the negative feedback system of thermoregulation, or creating concept tables of the types of organisms. This results in deeper processing of the material rather than passively watching or reading about it.
